I design user experiences, visualizations, and branding for my employer, Conveyal. A small open source, open-data transportation technology consultancy based in Atlanta, with remote offices in Washington D.C., Paris, New York and Hong Kong.
The visual branding evokes transportation and mapping, as well as the company’s three founding members, and three major product offerings.
Conveyal custom builds a suite of tools designed to manage data, route, analyze and provide trip planning for transportation planners and operators. My goal is to clarify the functions of these different tools and how they fit together in a technology stack for cities to use based on their needs.
As a software development firm, we need to give our products real-world context in order to communicate broadly to our clients. I develop language and messaging to relate Conveyal's multi-faceted goals for the transportation industry.
We also aim to build community with our branding and graphics, developing t-shirts, stickers and other swag to give out at events.
I begin most of my projects with sketches, which helps me to explore ideas and think freely.
