NiJeL for the Downtown Detroit Partnership, commissioned in 2018

As design lead for the project, I worked with the data and development team at NiJeL and the Downtown Detroit Partnership to build an interactive report for the Business Improvement District. I guided content strategy, executed UX/UI and visual design as well as data visualization and cartographic styling.

Once defining our users, data sources, and goals for the project we started with lightweight prototypes to define the user experience. We used hand drawn sketches demonstrate site features and interactions. We played with different content styles and posted sketches to Youtube.

Data stories were a large component to the project. Using census data and other available sources, we visually displayed the story of the work of the BIZ.
